Peek vs. Mariscal

Lightweights

Trevor Peek (8-0, 1-0 UFC) vs. Jose Mariscal (13-6, 0-0 UFC)

ODDS: Peek (-110), Mariscal (-110)

Even if Peek does not develop from this point forward, it should still be a fun ride. A contract winner on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022, Peek is still under the three-year mark as a pro, so it is quite understandable that he is still clearly on the raw side. However, he certainly has some tools with which to work, as Peek has shown an ability to absorb some damage and dish out plenty of his own. His DWCS win was a comeback from the brink, and he used brute force to blow through Erick Gonzalez in his UFC debut in February. For his sophomore effort, Peek draws a late replacement and UFC newcomer in Mariscal, who should be a willing dance partner. “Chepe” is a solid fighter and a seasoned pro at this point, and he brings some well-rounded aggression to the table. However, it is hard not to see him having the same problems as Gonzalez. Mariscal can press a lot of ideas but will likely only wind up meeting someone who hits harder and has more durability on their own terms. This should be a blast, but the pick is Peek via second-round knockout.
