Late Monday evening, the promotion announced that PFL Pacific — which focuses on Australia and New Zealand — will officially launch with four events in 2026. It will be the PFL’s fourth international league and will feature the same “win and advance” tournament format utilized in the other iterations. According to a release, in three years the PFL “aims to crown more Australian MMA champions than any other organization.”
In addition to the tournament format featuring athletes from
Oceania, PFL Champions Series: Road to Dubai will also be held in
the region, showcasing some of the league’s biggest stars “in
premium live events.” This is likely similar to the
recently announced PFL Africa debut in Cape Town, South Africa,
which will include Johnny
Eblen vs. Costello
van Steenis and Dakota
Ditcheva vs. Sumiko
Inaba as part of the July 26 card.
In conjunction with the launch of PFL Pacific, the league has announced a partnership with Stan, an Australian subscription streaming service offering content that includes sports, movies and television. In addition to PFL, Stan Sport is home to international rugby, grand slam tennis, the UEFA Champions League, motorsport, cycling and the Olympics.
Further information on that agreement, as per the release:
Under this landmark partnership, Stan will become the exclusive home for the entire PFL portfolio in Australia, with all the action streaming live and on-demand on Stan Sport, with select premium events available on Stan pay-per-view. Additionally, key PFL events will be available to stream free on 9Now and broadcast free-to-air on the 9Network including live fights, archived events, highlights, and exclusive content.
“It has been a priority of ours to bring the Professional Fighters League to Australia and the Pacific region, delivering our world-class brand of MMA and the sport’s biggest stars to local fans,” said PFL CEO Peter Murray. “Through our landmark partnership with Stan, and extended reach with action streaming on 9Now and broadcast free-to-air on the 9Network, we’re creating the most accessible MMA experience Australia has ever seen. With the launch of PFL Pacific, we’re also building a foundation for long-term growth and aiming to crown more Aussie champions than any other league over the next three years.”
PFL Pacific joins an international portfolio that currently includes PFL Europe, PFL MENA and the recently-confirmed PFL Africa. Event dates and participating athletes for PFL Pacific will be announced in the coming weeks.
