Dominick Reyes Confident He Can Beat Volkan Oezdemir Wherever The Fight Takes Place

Two of the heaviest hitters at 205 pounds are set to meet at UFC London on March 16, when rising star Dominick Reyes takes on Volkan Oezdemir inside the O2 Arena in London, England.

The undefeated Reyes is one of the brightest new additions to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight division and someone many believe could challenge champion Jon Jones in the near future. “The Devastator” was a guest on BJPenn Radio recently and said he was confident in his skills no matter where the fight took place against Oezdemir.

“As always, I’ll go wherever the fight takes me and I’ll win wherever it takes me,” Reyes said. “If an opportunity arises for a take down, I’m not going to be opposed to taking it. I’m a martial artist and I pride myself on being a complete martial artist. I know you guys haven’t seen much of my ground game because my striking is so effective, but it’s there and if the opportunity arises, well you could see me on top of Volkan for five, ten minutes. Cormier did it, Smith did it, but when you lose a fight, you, you try to shore up your game, your deficiencies. I don’t think Volkan is the guy that’s not going to shore up his game.”

With Jones likely to defend his belt against Thiago Santos later in the year, a win for Reyes could propel him into the No. 1 contender spot and a date with the winner.

Oezdemir is looking to get back into the winners circle after suffering back-to-back losses against former champ Daniel Cormier and the recent title challenger Anthony Smith in October last year. Before those losses, the 29-year-old was riding a five-fight winning streak including wins over top-10 contenders Jimi Manuwa, Misha Cirkunov and Ovince St. Preux.

UFC Fight Night 147: Till vs. Masvidal takes place Saturday, March 16 at O2 Arena in London, England. The bill is topped by a pair of high-stakes welterweight fights, with Darren Till taking on Jorge Masvidal in the main event and Leon Edwards vs. Gunnar Nelson in the co-main. The entire card will be broadcast via ESPN+ in the United States.
