Joe Lauzon: ‘I 100 Percent Think He Won the Fight’

Joe Lauzon had Marcin Held hurt badly in the opening frame when he doled out a storm of elbows to the head, but the Polish grappling wizard was able to stave off a stoppage. From there, Held proceeded to control the pace of the battle, score a few critical takedowns and largely control the action on the ground.

Lauzon missed a deep armbar attempt late in the second, but Held was busier and appeared to have done more than enough to win. However, though one judge somewhat surprisingly scored the contest in the Pole’s favor 30-27, the other two saw it 29-28 for the Bostonian, giving Lauzon the split decision win. Afterward, Lauzon vehemently disagreed with the decision and said that Held should have gotten the nod, not him.
