Preview: PFL 2024 Season Championships

The Prelims

PFL MENA Featherweight Final

Abdalrahman Alhyasat (5-0, 2-0 PFL) vs. Abdullah Al-Qahtani (9-2, 4-1 PFL): Alhyasat and Al-Qahtani fought last September, but this time they will scrap for the PFL MENA featherweight title. Alhyasat has yet to taste defeat in the cage, but he has never had to face an opponent who knows his style so intimately.

PFL MENA Welterweight Final

Mohammad Alaqraa (7-0, 2-0 PFL) vs. Omar El Dafrawy (12-6, 2-0 PFL): Alaqraa is one of the top prospects to come out of the PFL MENA tournament. The American Kickboxing Academy standout is undefeated and gunning for a potential spot in next year’s global tournament. First, he will have to get past El Dafrawy, who has won five straight with four knockouts in the span.

PFL MENA Bantamweight Final

Ali Taleb (11-1, 4-1 PFL) vs. Rachid El Hazoume (11-3, 2-1 PFL): The PFL MENA bantamweight championship pits a dangerous striker against a skilled submission artist. Taleb comes into this matchup on the heels of a first-round knockout. El Hazoume has five submissions on his resume and turned heads with a second-round rear-naked choke on Xavier Alaoui last May.

PFL MENA Lightweight Final

Mohsen Mohammadseifi (6-1, 2-0 PFL) vs. Georges Eid (10-4, 2-0 PFL): Mohammadseifi has been on a tear since losing his pro debut. The Iranian has had four knockouts in his last six fights and can cap off his run with a lightweight PFL MENA title. Eid, a Tristar Gym prospect, turned heads with a first-round TKO in the semifinals and will once again look to close the show early.

Lightweights

Mansour Barnaoui (21-6, 0-0 PFL) vs. Alfie Davis (17-4-1, 0-0 PFL): Barnoaoui, “The Afro-Samurai,” is one of the most dangerous lightweights on the planet on the ground, and he proved that yet again with a first-round brabo choke on Yasuke Yachi last May. Davis has not lost a fight since 2021 and has never been finished. This is a very good sleeper matchup.

Heavyweights

Slim Trabelsi (7-0, 0-0 PFL) vs. Abraham Bably (5-0, 2-0 PFL): Undefeated heavyweights put their unblemished records on the line in this showcase. Trabelsi was last in action last May, when he cruised to a unanimous decision at a Bellator Champions Series event in Paris. Bably is making a quick turnaround after a first-round TKO in September and will look to cap off his 2024 campaign with another impressive performance.

Featherweights

Jesus Pinedo (23-6-1, 3-1 PFL) vs. Jeremy Kennedy (19-4, 2-1 PFL): Pinedo, last year’s PFL featherweight tournament winner, comes off a yearlong layoff to face the wily Bellator veteran. Kennedy was on an impressive three-fight winning streak before Patricio Freire halted his momentum in March. Both fighters love to bang, and this could be a sleeper pick for “Fight of the Night.”

Featherweights

Jose Perez (9-1, 1-0 PFL) vs. Asael Adjoudj (8-1, 0-0 PFL): Perez puts his five-fight winning streak on the line against the SBG Ireland prospect. Adjoudj hails from France and stole the show at the Bellator Paris card last May with a second-round TKO over Bruno Fontes.

Middleweights

Costello van Steenis (15-3, 0-0 PFL) vs. Joao Vitor Ramos Dantas (7-1, 0-0 PFL): Kicking off the card is a middleweight showdown between a former Bellator contender in van Steenis and the surging Brazilian. Van Steenis has wins over Fabian Edwards, Kamil Oniszczuk and Gregory Babene, but he could have his hands full with a prospect who is four years his junior.
