Jason Brilz has agreed to step in for an injured Forrest Griffin in light heavyweight contest against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 114 on May 29 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the promotion announced on Tuesday.

MMAJunkie.com was the first to report Brilz to replace an injured Forrest Griffin, who withdrew from the co-headlining bout with a shoulder injury. A middleweight bout between “Ultimate Fighter” winner Michael Bisping and former IFL champion Dan Miller has been promoted to the vacant co-headlining slot.

Brilz, 34, earned a unanimous decision against Eric Schafer at UFC on Versus 1 in March. The former University of Nebraska wrestler is 3-1 in the Octagon, which includes wins against Tim Boetsch and Brad Morris. Brilz lost a split decision to Eliot Marshall at UFC 103 last September in Dallas and has won 11 of his last 12 bouts.

Rogerio, the twin brother of UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, had an impressive Octagon debut at UFC 106 last November in Las Vegas, boxing out a first-round stoppage over Luis Arthur Cane. The 33-year-old Brazilian is a veteran of Pride Fighting Championships.

Former 205-pound titleholders Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans meet in UFC 114’s main event, following their stints as embattled rival coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 10” last year.
