Nick Diaz Hires New York Law Firm to Investigate ‘Irregularities’ in UFC 183 Drug Test

Nick Diaz isn’t ready to concede the result from his UFC 183 post-fight drug test just yet.

Diaz’s manager, Lloyd Pearson, told UFC Tonight on Wednesday that a New York-based law firm has been hired to investigate “irregularities” in the results of Diaz’s post-fight drug test from the Jan. 31 event. No further details were given in regards to exactly what “irregularities” were discovered.

Diaz, who lost a unanimous decision to Anderson Silva in the UFC 183 main event, tested positive for marijuana after the fight. The Stockton, Calif., resident’s urine sample had 300 nanograms per milliliter of marijuana metabolites, which is double the NAC’s allowable limit of 150 ng/mL. It was Diaz’s third positive test for marijuana in Nevada.

Diaz was initially scheduled for a disciplinary hearing before the Nevada Athletic Commission on Monday, but the fighter was granted a continuance. He is expected to appear before the NAC soon.
