On Thursday night, UFC President Dana White sat down with play-by-play commentator Jon Anik on ESPN’s YouTube to go over the official lineup for UFC Fight Night 172. The event headlined by Jessica Eye vs. Cynthia Calvillo will take place on June 13 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. While most of the fights on the card were already announced to this point, a few new matchups, opponent changes and a bout relocation took place.

In terms of a fight moving to another card, an initial report from Brazilian outlet AgFight wrote on Thursday that the bout between Ariane Lipski and Luana Carolina has been rescheduled to July 18 from its original June 13 date due to travel issues. The U.S. is currently implementing a travel ban to Brazil, and both Brazilians are unable to receive the athlete exemption in time for their match.

A few new fights on the card include a bantamweight tilt between Ray Borg (13-5) and Merab Dvalishvili (10-4), while Charles Rosa (12-4) takes on Kevin Aguilar (17-3) at lightweight. Additionally, the card will begin with a featherweight rematch between Jordan Griffin (18-7) and Darrick Minner (24-11) -- Griffin won their first meeting at LFA 34 in 2018 by armbar.

Finally, for currently undisclosed reasons, Karol Rosa will not be competing at this event against Julia Avila (7-1). The news first reported by MMA Junkie, it is possible that Brazil’s Rosa suffered the same travel issues as the aforementioned Lipski and Carolina. Stepping in for Rosa in this bantamweight bash will be the re-signed Gina Mazany (6-3).

Avila has been scheduled to compete against Rosa a whopping four times since late 2019, when an injury ejected Rosa from their October 2019 meeting. Two subsequent events in April and May were scratched due to the coronavirus, and this withdrawal spells the fourth time it has dematerialized. Avila is riding a three-fight win streak into this bout, with two knockouts under the Invicta Fighting Championships banner leading to her signing. "Raging Panda" made her successful UFC debut in July 2019 when she won a decision against Pannie Kianzad.

Mazany was cut by the UFC in January following consecutive defeats to Lina Lansberg and Macy Chiasson. Notably, the Chiasson fight was the first time the pink-haired Mazany had ever been knocked out. In January, Mazany scored a quick first-round submission over Valerie Barney at KOTC: Golden Fights, which earned her another spot on the roster. The Alaskan known as “Danger” has a completely even record with two knockout victories, two submissions and two decision wins to her credit. On the losing side, she has dropped exactly one bout by knockout, one by submission and a third on the scorecards.
