Women's Strawweights
Shauna Bannon (6-1) vs. Puja Tomar (9-4)Odds: Bannon (-180), Tomar (+150)
Tomar made history last year as the first Indian woman to fight in the UFC, but expectations weren't particularly high; she developed some patience over the course of her decade as a professional and showed some knockout power against lower-level competition, but there wasn't a ton to suggest that her game would continue to hold up well as she moved onto the big stage. Tomar impressed by those standards in her UFC debut against Rayanne dos Santos, as she was able to stay elusive and tough against an opponent without much of a clear size or power advantage, but it was still a shock when the judges gave Tomar the decision -- and she might be able to follow that up with another win against Bannon.
A striker by background, Ireland's Bannon is raw as a mixed martial artist and not particularly physical; Bruna Brasil proved to be a bit of a physical wall in Bannon's UFC debut, though "Mama B" did well to rebound with a win over Alice Ardelean. Neither woman really has the pressure or the power to send the other off track in what could wind up as a range striking battle, but the Irishwoman does seem like the more practiced and effective fighter; the pick is Bannon via decision.
