Campbell vs. Reyes

Lightweights

Charlie Campbell (7-2, 0-0 UFC) vs. Alex Reyes (13-3, 0-1 UFC)

ODDS: Campbell (-400), Reyes (+300)

Six years to the day removed from his UFC debut, Reyes returns for his sophomore trip to the Octagon. Reyes’ first fight in the UFC was easy to forget. The older brother of former light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes, he was signed on late notice for a fight against Mike Perry and annihilated in 79 seconds. From there, Reyes was out of sight and out of mind as he went through a horrific cascade of injuries centered around a life-threatening spinal infection. As a prospect, Reyes was a solid regional fighter with some effective grappling, so it will be interesting to see if he can recapture any of that prior form against an organizational newcomer in Campbell. There are much fewer questions about Long Island’s Campbell, whose most high-profile fight was a loss to Chris Duncan on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. A back-and-forth war that lasted less than two minutes, the bout just about told the story for Campbell, a wildman with offensive potency who also presents plenty of defensive openings. Campbell could easily spin his way out of control and into a submission, but there would have been a decent chance of his finding a knockout against the 2017 version of Reyes, let alone what figures to be a diminished fighter six years later. The pick is Campbell via first-round knockout.
