Preview: PFL Europe 2024 Finals

Hughes vs. Kaszuba

PFL Europe Lightweight Final

Connor Hughes (10-1, 3-1 PFL) vs. Jakub Kaszuba (13-0, 5-0 PFL)

The undefeated Kaszuba comes into the PFL Europe lightweight championship looking to defend his title from a year ago. The punishing Pole has never tasted defeat in the pros or amateurs (17-0) and has a highly well-rounded style rooted in taekwondo, boxing and wrestling. With seven finishes—five knockouts and two submissions—on his record, Kaszuba can take advantage of whatever the opponent gives him. He’s patient and precise and understands the importance of taking care of business. Lightweight is a loaded division, but as a potential two-time PFL Europe champion, it will be tough to keep him off the PFL global roster if he wins again.

Hughes will do everything in his power to crush those dreams. He is no pushover and comes into the final riding a three-fight winning streak that includes two stoppages. He’s a well-rounded finisher like Kaszuba but probably more aggressive. At 5-foot-7, he’s a bit short for the division and gives up four inches in height to the reigning champion, but his heart could make up for the difference. Kaszuba can prove that 2023 was no fluke and that deserves his spot to fight for $1 million in next season’s PFL global season. He’s just as sharp and nasty as Hughes, but he can pick him apart on the outside with his superior reach. Look for him to control the fight early and comfortably fight his way to a clear decision.
