10 Pro Wrestlers Who Would Have Made Intriguing MMA Fighters

The NWA world heavyweight champion for more than two years at a time when that was pro wrestling’s most prestigious title, Brisco carried himself as a pro wrestling champion in a manner that would be very familiar to today’s MMA titleholders. He was not an over-the-top showman or trash talker. Rather, he focused on his craft and carried himself with pride and credibility in a way that made fans respect him.

It was that attitude towards his sport that is reminiscent of so many amateur wrestlers turned MMA fighters today. Promoters recognized it back then, too. Brisco lent credibility to pro wrestling given his approach to the business and his time as NCAA national wrestling champion at Oklahoma State University -- the future home of Daniel Cormier, Johny Hendricks, Randy Couture, Muhammed Lawal, Don Frye and Mark Munoz, among others.

If Brisco came along now, he would be wholly out of place in today’s WWE. However, he would fit right in with the UFC, and Cormier and “King Mo” might just have a fellow Cowboy with whom to train at the American Kickboxing Academy.
