Vitor Belfort has a vested interest in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s year-end main event.

Belfort figures to challenge the winner of the UFC 168 rematch between middleweight champion Chris Weidman and former titleholder Anderson Silva on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Though he continues to be dogged by questions over his controversial use of testosterone replacement therapy, the 36-year-old Belfort has staked his claim to the No. 1 contender’s seat by finishing his last three opponents -- Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson -- in brutal fashion.

In a recent interview, Belfort told USA Today that he believed Weidman and Silva were merely keeping the middleweight throne warm for him. “That belt belongs to me,” he said.
